Justice?

Justice?
In the UK our system of justice sucks. Basically if someone breaks into your home and ties you up and does whatever, you are barely allowed to defend yourself. The wording of the law protects the genuine criminals much more than the victims. So effectively, someone who isn't trained in self defense can accidently hit a criminal a little too hard and then find themselves in jail.

My issue is, the courts do not send burglars to prison, at least bniot until they have a whole string of offences to their name so the law doesn't offer any reason not to break in to peoples houses.

One story from the uk is one family were held and tied up, but the father escaped, got his brother and pursued the crimals down the street, caught one and beat him until he was brain damaged...and so, got sent to jail. The man they beat was a well known criminal, had been caught lots of times by the police, but never really punished. So was the man right to beat the crap out of the criminal?

The latest on the story is here

RE: Justice?
In my state, if someone breaks into your home, you are allowed to defend it and your family with deadly force. However, when my husband went for his concealed weapons permit, the guy who taught the class told them that if you shoot an intruder (at least in Florida) you better kill them or they could wind up suing you.

Its ridiculous that someone can have rights like that when they are committing a crime.

A woman will sometimes forgive the man who tries to seduce her, but never the man who misses an opportunity when offered

RE: Justice?
I agree. As far as I'm concerned, if someone is in the process of breaking the law, they should have no rights whatsoever...they made their choice, they should have to live or die with it. For those who are attemping to defend themselves against the original law breaker, they should be able to defend themselves any way they feel fit.

RE: Justice?
I agree as well, and FLN, my father always said the same thing to me. I have seen firsthand the way a criminal is treated as opposed to the victim. I was robbed back in 07, and the likely criminal (the one driving my stolen car with my stuff, and her meth, who had been photographed by the bank attempting to cash checks from my apartment) was let off by the police, not even arrested, while I was lectured on how foolish I had been for letting my apartment be robbed while I was in another state.

RE: Justice?
If someone breaks into another person\'s house, or attacks someone, knowing what he or she is doing, then they should lose their rights. There should be a few limits-torturing someone even if they are a burglar should not be allowed. And if someone kills a burglar then there needs to be an investigation to make sure the dead burglar was a burglar and not someone made to look like one and then murdered.
